Join us in experimenting with new ways to enrich Quebec's cinematic heritage !
What is the purpose of the Savoirs Communs du Cinéma platform?
The aim of this collaborative documentation platform is to promote the discoverability of archival collections relating to Quebec and Canadian women filmmakers, and to reflect more broadly on the issues of visibility of marginalized communities on the web. Noting the lack of digital documentation available on these archives in the Cinémathèque's collections, this collaborative indexing project aims to give citizens and film enthusiasts the opportunity to create descriptions and terminologies better adapted to the diversity of forms and expressions deployed by filmmakers past and present. This tool, which we see as an experimental prototype, will enable our institution to develop new ways of looking at our archival practices, so as to avoid the reproduction of exclusionary norms and to condition research within our collections in a different way.
Why contribute to this platform?
On this site, you can both consult archives (textual documents, audiovisual and sound extracts and much more...) and document them by adding comments and keywords.
By creating an account on Savoirs Communs du Cinéma, you can help us enrich and revisit Quebec's cinematic heritage from the point of view of women filmmakers! The more you comment on the archives, the more they'll be discoverable by other citizens and film buffs like you!
